Today, by satisfying its guests over the past quarter-century, Hornblower has grown to a $30 million business with 29 yachts, and is the market leader in each of the six California ports it serves.

History

In 1980, Terry MacRae co-founded Hornblower Yachts Inc. in Berkeley, California. Its first two vessels had a combined capacity of 114 guests. The goal: combine cruise, dining and entertainment activities into an integrated, memorable experience. The company's subsequent success can be measured by such milestones as:

1985 - inaugurated individual cruises in addition to charters
1989 - introduced dockside banquets
1992 - converted the Monte Carlo into a Las Vegas-style casino to offer a value-priced, fun and entertainment experience, to augment Hornblower's traditional fine dining offerings
1996 - created Hornblower Marine Services as a separate entity to provide consulting services to marine businesses and ferry services
1997 - expanded catering services to on-land sites throughout San Francisco
2001 - introduced the San Francisco Belle, the largest dining yacht in the USA
2005 - selected by the National Park Service to provide transportation services to Alcatraz
Under the leadership of CEO Terry MacRae, Hornblower has acquired six businesses and expanded to six ports, and is now the largest and most established dining and events oriented cruise company on the West Coast.
